Wow!  Excellent!  Tubular!  Those are some pretty  fitting 1980’s terms to sum it all up, but that’s exactly how to describe the 4th Annual Citizens of the World Fundraising Event on Friday March 3 – WOW!!!!

Citizens of the World would like to extend our biggest thanks to the more than 200 people who dressed up 1980s style and rocked out into the evening for our biggest event yet.  The amount of neon, stone-washed denim, feathered hair, leg warmers, and Zubaz was truly inspiring.

Also, thank you to our table sponsors, who also set a record number.

This year’s event reached a new level of celebration with rum raffles, live auctions, and a jaw-dropping dance-off (think Michael Jackson and hair metal bands). As always, the auction was an amazing success with raucous bidding which was entertaining for all. Another record was set, both for the highest bid and for overall donations raised.  Thank you!

All of your support and recognition allows us to continue and extend our mission of equipping the future providers and teachers of anesthesia in Haiti and beyond.

In addition to the fun, we also took time to learn more about Haiti and the mission of Citizens of the World with familiar voices as well as new perspectives, including an opening talk by board member Mike Renner, who visited Haiti in December.  We also introduced a short video, which can be seen here, that serves as an introduction to what we do.

Again, thank you to all our supporters, those that came and had a blast and those that will be there next year.  Planning is already underway for next year with a goal to be bigger and better.  Please plan on being part of it.
